Zontians have always been and will continue to be an important part of the Birthing Kit Project. The majority of all Assembly Days are organised through Zonta clubs, and Zonta clubs contribute over 50% of the annual funds to the Foundation.
The project has grown exponentially under the administration of the Birthing Kit Foundation (Australia), and with the support of Zonta clubs, many individuals and organisations.
With the assistance of voluntary sewers the Club makes and packs cushions for distribution through local hospitals to help patients in the recuperative period following breast surgery.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we traditionally hold a major working bee to put the finishing touches to Zonta Breast Cushions.
For several years we held our working bees at one of the Curves gymnasiums, involving their members, and are very grateful for their support.
Each year members contribute non-perishable food items to the 3BA Christmas and Christmas in July appeals in addition to warm clothing in July and gifts for children at Christmas.
